FAQs
How to become a client?
Therapy is all about connection and fit. The best way to get started is to schedule a 15-minute phone consultation. During this phone call, I will ask you some questions to understand better your goals and what you are looking for in therapy.
First session
Our first session is 75 minutes. During this time, I will be asking you questions to build a foundation from which our work will be built. We will discuss your family history, current stressors, mood, health concerns, and other aspects of your life. I want to get a sense of your strengths and values. I also ask to learn about your cultural and religious background and family dynamics. Toward the end of our first session, we will identify goals to work on and create a plan for moving forward.
How often will we meet?
After the initial consultation, we will meet weekly for 45 minutes. At the beginning of treatment, this is important to establish consistency, explore the challenges you are experiencing throughout the week, and work towards your goals.
Often, I will ask you to practice the skills we discuss in treatment in between sessions. This is an important part of treatment and helps us track your progress.
Cancellations?
I will dedicate a standing appointment time for our session. This allows both therapist and client to have the comfort and consistency of knowing when the therapeutic work will occur. Regardless of the reason, cancellations that occur without a 48-hour notice will incur the full session rate.
Cancellations that occur over the weekend for a Monday session are considered late cancellations. A Monday cancellation needs to be made before Friday at noon for it not to be considered late.
Insurance and fees?
Individual 45-Minute Session: $225
Cash, check, credit card, and HSA is accepted. Payment is due at time of service.
You will be given a Superbill to submit to your insurance if you have out-of-network coverage. Prior to meeting, it is important to call your insurance company to determine your coverage.
Here are questions that can be helpful to ask:
Do I have a deductible? If so, how much has been met? When does my deductible start up again?
How much of the fee will be covered with my out-of-network benefits? What will my reimbursement look like?
Do I have an out-of-pocket maximum, and if so, what is it?
Do I need authorization to see a therapist?
How many sessions per year will be covered?
How do I submit for reimbursement?
In compliance with the No Surprises Act that was enacted on January 1, 2022, all healthcare providers must notify clients of their rights and protections against "surprise billing". This Act requires that you be notified of your federally protected rights to receive a notification when services are rendered by an out-of-network provider, if you are uninsured, or if you elect not to use your insurance.https://www.cms.gov/medical-bill-rights for more information.
You have the right to receive a "Good Faith Estimate" explaining how much your therapy will cost. Click here https://www.cms.gov/medical-bill-rights for more information.
